Spicy Buffalo Wings

Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings are a perfect snack for the football game or tailgate

What would football season be without Buffalo wings? And to make delicious chicken wings at home you really only need a few ingredients and to health them up a bit, an oven or a grill. Butter and hot sauce combine with vinegar, garlic, and paprika in this spicy Buffalo  wing recipe from Mark’s Daily Apple. Serve up with some homemade ranch dressing and celery sticks and you’re good to go!

Gather:

  • 2 1/2 – 3 pounds chicken wings or drummettes
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons hot sauce, or more for a spicier sauce

Prepare

Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels and preheat oven to 450 degrees (or set your grill to medium-high heat).

Place chicken on a wire rack over a rimmed baking sheet (or you can put directly on sheet with some aluminum foil or parchment paper).

Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat and stir in the garlic, paprika, vinegar and hot sauce.

Remove from heat and brush 1/4 of the sauce over the chicken and the remainder into a large bowl and set aside.

Baking your Buffalo chicken wings instead of frying keeps all the flavor with none of the guilt

If using the oven, bake for 30 minutes, turning once. Heat broiler to high and broil wings on each side until dark and crispy.

If using the grill, then grill over medium-high heat for 12-15 minutes for wings and possibly a few minutes longer for drummettes.

Dump chicken wings into the large bowl with the remaining sauce and stir to coat.
